They act as technical consultants to clients, understanding the clients' business requirements, IT requirements and/or competitive landscape. They work with the sales team to qualify opportunities, propose and demonstrate IBM offerings, and ensure client plans for implementation. These specialists ensure the technical feasibility of a solution, removing any technical inhibitors to the sale of IBM products. When engaged for a specific opportunity, they are responsible for the technical accuracy of the proposed solution, and where applicable, the deliverability of the proposed solution, service, project, or enhancement. Establishes relationships with the clients' key technical decision makers and influencers within an opportunity-driven model. Understands the client's current technical strategy and challenges and how IBM solutions can resolve them. Understands the client's technical resources, capabilities and technical environment. Understands the IBM Client Value Method (CVM) and Team Solution Design (TSD) for delivering client value. Provides the expertise to ensure the technical feasibility of any client proposal and to remove technical inhibitors to the sale of IBM products, solutions and services within the client's environment. Ensures that the client is ready for the solution. Ensures a smooth hand-off to the installation/services professionals. Where specialists are assigned to a territory or an account they are responsible for the client's satisfaction with the IBM offerings they propose, and they may be required to drive the resolution of implementation issues. Understands and navigates IBM to identify and engage the IBM technical resources needed to address client needs. Works with the IBM client team to support a unified IBM strategy for the client and engages the services team as needed. Understands IBM business and brand strategies and translates these into solutions which address client needs. Understands competitive offerings and IBM positioning against those offerings. Works closely with the client team to understand the client's industry, including industry trends and key client competitors. Proposes and demonstrates products and/or solutions and ensures their technical feasibility for the client. Assists IBM sales teams and/or business partners in designing customer solutions. Understands and, in cases, plans the customization, installation and/or implementation of solutions related to specialty area, which may include education, conversion, testing and/or integration activities. Executes technical process (e.g. TDA, Technical Set/Met, CritSit resolution, CSat, etc.). Shares best practices and captures and re-uses intellectual assets. Regularly certifies, senior certifies, or re-certifies in area of specialty as appropriate to technical & professional skills are maintained. Required * High School Diploma/GED * At least 1 year experience in Support Sales of x 86 System x High End Servers and PureFlex * At least 3 years experience in Advise on Emerging Technologies * At least 2 years experience in Design Solutions for Clients * At least 2 years experience in Support Sales of Virtualization Solutions * Basic knowledge in Support Sales of BladeCenter Solutions * At least 3 years experience in Support Sale of Linux Solutions * At least 3 years experience in Support sales of Networking Solutions and equipment * Readiness to travel 25% travel annually * English: Fluent Preferred * Bachelor's Degree * At least 5 years experience in Support Sales of x 86 System x High End Servers and PureFlex * At least 5 years experience in Advise on Emerging Technologies * At least 3 years experience in Design Solutions for Clients * At least 5 years experience in Support Sales of Virtualization Solutions * At least 3 years experience in Support Sales of BladeCenter Solutions * At least 5 years experience in Support Sale of Linux Solutions * At least 5 years experience in Support sales of Networking Solutions and equipment * Certified in Current industy certification preferred, eg: Redhat, VMware, Microsoft, Novell, etc. Additional information Account coverage would include the Boston/Hartford areas and Greater New England. The candidate should possess excellent communication skills, and ideally have significant experience in a customer facing role.
