The Albany VA Medical Center located in Albany, New York is seeking a permanent full-time Board Certified or Board Eligible General Surgeon to assume a staff general surgeon position along with teaching and resident supervision. The Albany VAMC serves Veterans with diverse general surgical needs. We are seeking candidates with excellent clinical skills and experience in the full range of general surgery. The ideal successful candidate will have experience, interest and/or specialized training in wound care. All candidates must have strong clinical, leadership, and communication skills with a commitment to academics. Ideal candidates will have excellent clinical and surgical skills in an academic setting, a successful record of and commitment to teaching resident surgeons. A demonstrated interest in basic or clinical research is preferred. You will perform surgery and provide pre-op and post-op care as indicated for major and minor procedures, as well as consultation for inpatients and outpatients. Shared rotation of night and weekend on-call. On-call coverage is 1:4.5.
